What to Do If You Find Woodworm in Your Home

Woodworm might sound harmless, but these small insects can cause major structural damage if left untreated.
If you think you’ve found signs of woodworm, here’s what you need to do.

Identify the Signs

  • Tiny Round Exit Holes
Fresh holes in wood, about 1-2mm across.

  • Frass (Fine Dust)
    Fine, powdery dust around timber.

  • Weakened, Brittle Wood
Wood may crumble easily when touched.

  • Beetles Emerging
You may spot adult beetles during warmer months (April–September).

Why You Should Act Quickly

Wood-boring insects can continue weakening timber for years if untreated.
In severe cases, joists, floors, or roof timbers may need costly replacement.
